Merry Christmas

To my friends and family ~

Today and for many tomorrows...

I wish you a day of ordinary miracles

A fresh pot of coffee you didn't have to make yourself.
An unexpected phone call from an old friend.
Green stoplights on your way to work.
I wish you a day of little things to rejoice in...
The fastest line at the grocery store.
A good sing along song on the radio.
Your keys right where you look.
I wish you a day of happiness and perfection
-little bite-size pieces of perfection
that give you the funny feeling that
the Lord is smiling on you,
holding you so gently because
you are someone special and rare.

I wish You a day of Peace, Happiness and Joy.

Hoping everyone has a very special Christmas and a wonderful 2009.

Merry Christmas

Christmas is forever, not for just one day,
for loving, sharing, giving, are not to put away
like bells and lights and tinsel, in some box upon a shelf.
The good you do for others is good you do yourself...

Call it fate, destiny or Blessing

What ever you want to call it,it was not in my plans to be raising grandkids after 50+. But guess what? It was in God's plans!
So, here I am, in my golden years, raising twin girls.(it was not on my DH plans either, lol) Regardless, after raising 4 boys, it is quite a challenge to be raising girls now. Who was the one who said that girls were drama queens? Believe me ,they were right!

It seems, that more and more grandparents are raising grandkids today. I met a lady the other day that was rasing her great grandkids,2,4,6yrs old!! As you can see, we are not the exception anymore, it is an every day reality.

My bumblebees, that is what I call them, because they are always on the move, are our life and what ever God's plan are, we will embrace it with open arms.
How many of you know anyone raising grandkids. I would love to read about their challenges.

Being a Mom means...

In our last and first! giveaway, I asked what did it mean to you being a Mom. This is what Jennifer wrote. She just said it!!

Being a mom means never sleeping through the night again - even if baby does, never peeing alone -at least for the next several years, never wanting to let the evening end without tucking the most beautiful, stinky, drive-you-crazy creatures into bed with a big hug and a goodnight kiss. My kids admittedly drive me insane at moments, but even in the crazy insane days I can imagine life without them. Planning for their futures, praying they are happy and making each moment of their childhood sweet has turned into my daily mission. In a nutshell, they are my life and my happiness.

Well said!

Mommies..this is for you!

Take the Tissue Test!

Want spectacular skin? It's easier than you think! You can improve your skin's appearance at any age simply by identifying your skin type and choosing your skin care and makeup products accordingly. If you're not sure what type of skin you have, or haven't assessed your skin in a while, take this simple tissue test to see where you stand.
First, wash your skin with your normal cleanser, but don't apply any toner or moisturizer. Wait 10 minutes, then take four squares of white tissue and use one each to blot your forehead, cheeks, nose, and chin. If none of the tissues are left with oil on them, you have dry skin. If there is a small amount of oil on all of them, you have normal skin. If there is more oil on the tissues from your nose, forehead, and chin than the one used on your cheeks, you have combination skin. If there is excess oil on all the tissues, you have oily skin.
Now examine the skin care and makeup products you're currently using. Do they match up with your skin type? If not, it's time to go shopping! You'll be amazed how much better your skin will look and feel when you treat it according to its type!

Are you a croaker or a leaper?

Along with the new items I am frequently adding from my store, every so often I run across quotes and readings like this one that help me keep tune with reality. Like my mother used to say "count your blessings", and that is what I am trying to do!
Enjoy!

We don't often think about the effect that our words have upon others. Our words do have power and everything that we say has a positive or negative impact on others around us.
There is an old story that is told about an army* of frogs that went leaping through the forest one day when two of the frogs suddenly fell into a deep pit. All of the other frogs gathered around the hole to look down on their two fallen comrades. They all began to sadly shake their heads and to croak out dismal warnings. "It's too deep!" croaked one frog. Another croaked that there was no way that they would ever be able to get out of that pit alive.
The two fallen frogs began to continuously jump as they tried to get out of the pit, but the frogs that were watching kept croaking louder at them that they might as well stop because they were as good as dead and just wasting their time. One of the two frogs finally gave up and heeded the pessimistic advice of the frogs at the top. He quit jumping and literally "croaked" and died.
The other frog just kept right on jumping and leaping harder than ever in spite of all the loud croaks of disapproval from the frogs that were watching around the top of the hole. They kept croaking shouts at him to quit jumping and save himself from all the pain and suffering he was incurring as he leaped and fell back down to the bottom of the pit over and over again.
Finally, he leaped even harder than ever and to the surprise of all the other frogs he jumped right out of the deep pit. The other frogs asked him, "Why did you keep leaping even though we yelled and croaked at you to stop?" It was then that the frog explained to them that he was deaf and he had thought they were cheering for him and yelling words of encouragement to him the entire time!
A little encouragement can go a long way and as Babe Ruth once said, "It's hard to beat a person who never gives up."
Our words do have the power to hurt or to heal. What kind of frog are you? Are you a croaker or a leaper?

The Sands of Forgiveness

What a better way to start your day ,than reading this beautiful story!

The Sands of Forgiveness by Author Unknown

A story tells that two friends were walking through the desert. During some point of the journey they had an argument, and one friend slapped the other one in the face.
The one who got slapped was hurt, but without saying anything, wrote in the sand: TODAY MY BEST FRIEND SLAPPED ME IN THE FACE.
They kept on walking until they found an oasis, where they decided to take a bath. The one who had been slapped got stuck in the mire and started drowning, but the friend saved him.
After he recovered from the near drowning, he wrote on a stone: TODAY MY BEST FRIEND SAVED MY LIFE.
The friend who had slapped and saved his best friend asked him, "After I hurt you, you wrote in the sand and now, you write on a stone, why?"
The other friend replied "When someone hurts us we should write it down in sand where winds of forgiveness can erase it away. But, when someone does something good for us, we must engrave it in stone where no wind can ever erase it."
LEARN TO WRITE YOUR HURTS IN THE SAND AND TO CARVE YOUR BENEFITS IN STONE.

Ladies Good News!

Hooray for Housework!

Sure, mopping floors and tilling the garden is hard work, but exercise? Researchers say it is! The great news is that chores help you burn calories while you get things done! If you do them often enough, you won't have to go to the gym! Try turning on the tunes and moving briskly; add squats, biceps curls, and other moves as you go.
You can burn 200 calories an hour mopping, vacuuming, or washing windows — the same as medium-intensity aerobics; 400 calories per hour of mowing the lawn — the same as cycling; and 500 calories per hour of washing and waxing the car — the same as jumping rope! So don't delay! Get busy with that to-do list today!

Time Well Spent

See tiny fingers and tiny toes,

Bright baby eyes, cute baby nose;

Hear baby gurgles and baby sighs,

As Mom and Dad sing lullabies.
Life is changed, but that's okay;

It's fun to spend glad hours each day,

Taking time for all the good

That comes along with parenthood.

New Years Resolution

I found this and wanted to share it with you. We all make resolutions. What are yours? I would love to hear from you.

Top 10 New Year's Resolutions
From Kimberly & Albrecht Powell,Your Guide to Pittsburgh.FREE Newsletter. Sign Up Now!
New Year's Eve has always been a time for looking back to the past, and more importantly, forward to the coming year. It's a time to reflect on the changes we want (or need) to make and resolve to follow through on those changes. Did your New Year resolutions make our top ten list?
1. Spend More Time with Family & FriendsRecent polls conducted by General Nutrition Centers, Quicken, and others shows that more than 50% of Americans vow to appreciate loved ones and spend more time with family and friends this year. Make plans to meet up with friends for an evening of comaraderie at a favorite Pittsburgh restaurant or take the family to one of these popular Pittsburgh places for family fun. Work shouldn't always come first! More: Home & Family in Pittsburgh
2. Fit in FitnessThe evidence is in for fitness. Regular exercise has been associated with more health benefits than anything else known to man. Studies show that it reduces the risk of some cancers, increases longevity, helps achieve and maintain weight loss, enhances mood, lowers blood pressure, and even improves arthritis. In short, exercise keeps you healthy and makes you look and feel better. Why not make this the time to start getting in shape for one of these popular Pittsburgh Area Charity Walks, Runs or Rides? More: Getting Fit in Pittsburgh
3. Tame the BulgeOver 66 percent of adult Americans are considered overweight or obese by recent studies, so it is not surprising to find that weight loss is one of the most popular New Year's resolutions. Setting reasonable goals and staying focused are the two most important factors in sticking with a weight loss program, and the key to success for those millions of Americans who made a New Year's commitment to shed extra pounds. More: Weight Loss Help in Pittsburgh
4. Quit SmokingIf you have resolved to make this the year that you stamp out your smoking habit, over-the-counter availability of nicotine replacement therapy now provides easier access to proven quit-smoking aids. Even if you've tried to quit before and failed, don't let it get you down. On average, smokers try about four times before they quit for good. Start enjoying the rest of your smoke-free life! Even Allegheny County is trying to go smoke-free, and it's taken them a few tries as well. Locally, there are a variety of free support services, hotlines and smoking cessation classes to help you kick the smoking habit. More: Quit Smoking Classes & Support Groups in the Greater Pittsburgh area
5. Enjoy Life MoreGiven the hectic, stressful lifestyles of millions of Americans, it is no wonder that "enjoying life more" has become a popular resolution in recent years. It's an important step to a happier and healthier you! Consider one of Pittsburgh's holistic healing centers for products designed to bring balance to your body, mind and soul. Or just get out and try something new! Take up a new hobby or try your hand at skiing. Go to a theater performance, or head to the local spa. Pittsburgh offers a wealth of artistic and recreational activities to meet just about anyone's wishes. More: Things to Do in Pittsburgh
6. Quit DrinkingWhile many people use the New Year as an incentive to finally stop drinking, most are not equipped to make such a drastic lifestyle change all at once. Many heavy drinkers fail to quit cold turkey but do much better when they taper gradually, or even learn to moderate their drinking. If you have decided that you want to stop drinking, there is a world of help and support available. Pittsburgh Alcoholics Anonymous offers meetings throughout the greater Pittsburgh area. There is also a Pittsburgh group for Parents of Teenage Alcohol and Drug Abusers. There are also a number of treatment-based programs, as well as support groups for families of alcoholics. More: Alcohol Recovery & Support in Pittsburgh
7. Get Out of DebtWas money a big source of stress in your life last year? Join the millions of Americans who have resolved to spend this year getting a handle on their finances. It's a promise that will repay itself many times over in the year ahead. More: Find a Financial Planner in Pittsburgh
8. Learn Something NewHave you vowed to make this year the year to learn something new? Perhaps you are considering a career change, want to learn a new language, or just how to fix your computer? Whether you take a course or read a book, you'll find education to be one of the easiest, most motivating New Year's resolutions to keep. The Community College of Allegheny County offers a wide variety of "lifelong learning" courses, and local YMCA's offer great recreational training for beginners of all ages. Most local colleges and universities offer distance and adult education programs. Or if the arts are more your thing, places such as the Carnegie Museum of Art and the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts offer adult studio classes. Lifelong Learning in Pittsburgh
9. Help OthersA popular, non-selfish New Year's resolution, volunteerism can take many forms. Whether you choose to spend time helping out at your local library, mentoring a child, or building a house, there are many nonprofit volunteer organizations that could really use your help. The Pittsburgh Cares organization makes it easy by connecting volunteers with projects to fit practically any schedule. Or if your time is really in short supply, maybe you can at least find it in you to donate the furniture, clothing and other household items that you no longer need, rather than leaving them out by the curb to fill up our landfills. More: Volunteer Opportunities in Pittsburgh
10. Get OrganizedOn just about every New Year resolution top ten list, organization can be a very reasonable goal. Whether you want your home organized enough that you can invite someone over on a whim, or your office organized enough that you can find the stapler when you need it, these tips and resources should get you started on the way to a more organized life. Pittsburgh has quite a few professional organizers who can help you reduce the clutter in your life and find peace in your home. Professional Pittsburgh organizer Patty Kreamer even offers a a six-month But I Might Need it Somday! ecourse. More: Pittsburgh Home Improvement & Renovations
